SB2, School Choice, and ESAs (a.k.a. Vouchers) are expected to be signed into law within a couple of days here in Texas!  The graphic below from TPSA breaks down key facts and shows who will be prioritized to receive a voucher for the 2026–27 school year.

We’ve heard a few concerns about this bill, including:

📌 “Private schools don’t have to accept students with learning disabilities.”
  • That may be true elsewhere—but at School of Lexia, these are the ONLY students we serve. We don’t call them disabilities—we call them differences. Our students simply learn differently, and we celebrate that.

📌 “Only wealthy families will benefit.”
  • Actually, the program prioritizes low-income families and students with special needs, including those with dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning differences. This is a major step toward equity and access for students who need a specialized environment to thrive.

💡 Will School of Lexia still offer need-based scholarships and financial aid once ESAs are available?
  • Absolutely. Our mission is to keep high-quality, specialized education affordable for the families who need it most.

✅ Does School of Lexia qualify for families using ESA funds?
  • Yes—we’re a fully ACCREDITED school that’s been in operation for over 5 years.

📣 Know a family who needs this info? Tag them. Share this post. Let’s get the word out to the families who’ve been waiting for options.

🌟 Exciting Announcement for School of Lexia Private School Students! 🌟
We are thrilled to introduce a remarkable addition to our extracurricular programs this coming school year – AJ Tucker, an expert in self-defense and fitness, will be teaching Self Defense classes exclusively for our students!
Thanks to a generous donation from the Stukas Family, our Self Defense classes at School of Lexia will be included for our private school students at no additional cost for the 2024-25 school year. We are incredibly grateful for their support! 🌟 #ThankYou

💪 Meet AJ Tucker: A Champion of Strength and Safety
AJ Tucker’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. With a deep passion for self-defense and fitness, AJ's commitment to empowering others stems from personal experience. His mother’s escape from a dangerously abusive relationship ignited his dedication to ensuring everyone knows how to protect themselves.
🇺🇸 A Hero’s Background
AJ served our country as a combat medic in the military from 2001-2005, including a tour in Iraq. After his service, he transitioned to the fitness industry, where he found his calling in helping women achieve their strength and safety goals. By 2006, AJ was already making waves in the self-defense community, teaching classes locally with the endorsement of his martial arts instructor and mentor. He began assisting for Athena’s Strategies in 2007, further honing his skills and knowledge.
🥋 A Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
AJ’s expertise is rooted in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, where he earned his Black Belt in 2015. His approach to self-defense is practical and accessible, focusing on real-world tactics that do not require strength or coordination. This makes his teachings invaluable for students of all ages and abilities.
👊 Why Self Defense with AJ Tucker?
  • Empowerment: Learn to protect yourself with confidence.
  • Practical Skills: Master techniques that are effective in real-life situations.
  • Inclusive Training: Techniques designed for everyone, regardless of strength or coordination.
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to learn from a true expert. This class will be taught weekly in our full day private School in 2024-25.
Let’s make this school year one where every student feels stronger, safer, and more confident.
