TEFA (SCHOOL VOUCHERS)
Beginning February 4- March 17th 2026, parents can submit applications for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program. Education freedom accounts are designed to open doors, expand opportunities, and give each Texas child the chance to learn in the environment that fits them best. The standard award will be $10,474. Additional funds will be offered for students with an IEP for specific learning disabilities. Families will be informed of awards around April 6th, 2026. See additional info below.

Initial TEFA awards will be available for the 2026–27 school year. Funding priority will be given to students with a documented learning disability, such as dyslexia, from families with household incomes at or below 500% of the federal poverty level. Families with household incomes above this threshold are still encouraged to apply, as eligibility and award determinations are based on program guidelines and available funding. School of Lexia strongly encourages all families seeking specialized education for students with learning differences to submit an application.

Families may request evaluations from either the district that the child resides in OR from the district where the private school is located. Districts are aware of their responsibility to conduct these evaluations and receive increased funding to do them, even for students in private schools with no intention of attending public school.
The IEP is not time limited so can be from any date.  Click for more info and sign up link.
Financial aid / SOL Tuition Assistance
Through its Tuition Assistance Program, School of Lexia strives to make a student’s education both accessible and affordable. School of Lexia uses FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment, a third-party service, to help determine a family’s demonstrated financial need. The availability of school funds is also a factor in tuition assistance decisions. All applications are reviewed by the Tuition Assistance Committee and are kept in strict confidence. While funds are limited, every effort is made to award tuition assistance to eligible applicants.
  • Tuition assistance applications must be submitted annually, along with all required documentation, for a family to be considered each year. Please note that all financially responsible parties are required to submit financial information when applying for tuition assistance.
  • Required documentation may include personal & business tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, and recent pay stubs.
  • The link above is for 2026–2027 Tuition Assistance Applications.

Tuition Assistance Timeline

January 15, 2026
Tuition Assistance applications open. The FACTS Grant & Aid application will be available through a link on this page beginning January 15, 2026.

March 1, 2026
First-round application deadline. Applications must be completed by this date to be considered in the primary review cycle. If additional funds remain available after initial awards, subsequent review rounds may be offered.

March 30, 2026
Families will be notified of tuition assistance decisions on or after March 30, 2026.

TEFA Voucher AwardsPlease note: Tuition assistance awards will be reduced by the amount of any TEFA funds awarded to a student’s family. School of Lexia reserves the right to reevaluate tuition assistance and, if funds remain available, provide additional support based on a family’s demonstrated financial need.

Limitations:
  • Due to limited funding, full tuition awards are not available through the Tuition Assistance Program, and all families are expected to contribute toward tuition.
  • Historically, the majority of tuition assistance has been awarded to families with household incomes of $120,000 or less. Families with incomes up to $235,000 may be considered for tuition assistance; however, income alone does not guarantee eligibility.
  • Financial need is evaluated based on a comprehensive review of each family’s financial circumstances.
